An ad worked on me. I told my Mrs. to stop buying Nivea products because they were sponsoring Liverpool FC according to their advert

Ads do work as my mother in law told me people should change their mattress every eight years.

I remember when Endsleigh sponsored the Football League, before Nationwide did I think.

Who the fuck had heard of Endsleigh before that?

Re: If ads worked...
As someone that spent his whole working life in advertising & marketing then advertising does work. It just doesn't change your mind over night. Clearly, if you're looking for something and ad might bring your attention or give you the idea but if you aren't...

Of course everyone denies because they have to tell us that they are too intelligent to be influenced by what the media tells them but, there is absolutely no doubt that they are influenced.

That's why politicians keep giving you good news about what they do and bad news about the opposition. It gets absorbed gradually until it becomes accepted. Same as advertising products and services.Make something warm, cuddly and desirable with lots of good vibes and people want it....

Ads work but only for morons who can't decide for themselves. Not for me, though, 'cos I'm dead smart, me. Got qualifications and stuff.

Re: If ads worked...
Ads do work but they don't make lemmings of you. You do not want to change your Xmas nosh so you'll never be interested in eating three bowls of cornflakes. However, if you decided that you wanted a change this year then you might have looked for alternatives and three Bowls of cornflakes might have done it for you (if you were fucking strange).

Advertising works best when you're looking for something to buy but you're sure which make and model but it also does put new ideas into your bonse as well.

Attention seeking?

Yeah, because being gratuitously rude to people (not just here, but all over the site), is nothing to do with attention seeking.

Just ask any spoilt child.
